Cool For Cats

Once upon a time, a time when kitsch and glamour walked hand in hand, there was a pool in the shape of a cat.
This particular kitty pool was located at Miami's famed Fountainebleau Hotel.
And while the hotel still stands today, sadly, the cat does not.
Fortunately, however, for our vieweing delight, photographer Slim Aarons managed to capture this cool cat in all of its mid-century glory.

Methinks a swim here sounds pretty much purrfect.

Ooh, Las Vegas

I have never had a great desire to visit Las Vegas.
I'm not one for gambling or going to designer clubs. And I really don't like hot hot temperatures.
Even when the heat is a dry one.
But every now and then, I get a bit wanderlusty for a bit of blindingly bright sun and a little kitsch.
Making the Neon Boneyard right up my tacky-loving alley.

The rusted relics and bones of what once was.
In all of its neon glory.
Perhaps I should never say never to a Sin City trip.
At least not if just passing through.
